Railway bridges

There is something ancient about railway bridges that grabs my imagination. I'm trying to build up a collection of photos that capture the archaic mystery of these structures. Here is a bridge at Tauranga NZ, and one crossing the Manning River in northern NSW.

Yamba NSW north coast

In July I spent a week at a small town, Wooloweyah, just outside Yamba and next to Angourie beach. Wooloweyah is on Lake Wooloweyah and the home I stayed in backed onto the lake. The view was beautiful, through gum trees and paperbarks, and shared with swans and a raucous bird life - and the odd tick.

Angourie beach is well known to the surfing world and is a half hour walk away. Its one of those beaches with miles of empty sand and lines of waves stretching into the distance.

Bay of Plenty, Maketu

Bay of Plenty, Tauranga

Bay of Plenty, Mount Maunganui

I spent February with family in Tauranga on the Bay of Plenty and had a glorious time with my photography. There are dozens of inlets and estuaries branching off the main entrance to Tauranga harbour. And one of the most beautiful is Mount Maunganui - both the mount and the beach.
